How much should my sons reception school uniform cost?

• just as a rough guide. my eldest starts reception in september. have already bought the bits and pieces that are only available at the school and am just going through the rest. working it all out, including shoes, coat and new underwear/socks etc...it comes to around £140. does this sound about right. the shoes make up £30 of it. we have to go to clarks for all his shoes as he has very very wide feet. so the rest comes to about £110

  Try ASDA or Sainsbury's especially for socks, they are much cheaper than specialist school uniform shops. I have the hassle of trying to find blue trousers/pinafores and they are rarely made. Grey and black are everywhere and the ASDA ones wear pretty well. For future I would recommend waiting until late September and buying the next years stuff on the sale, John Lewis stuff is really good quality and always a bargain in late sep, that's what I do. Also schools often have end of year clearouts and sell all the unamed stuff in the lost property for school funds. The only thing I get full price is the shoes. I have 3 of each (3 shirts, 3 polo-shirts, 3 sweaters and 3 trousers/pinafores) for each child.
