What's pediatric residency like?

We have split up and have 2 and half year old whats the chances of shared residency?

  • We have split up both now own our homes. Talked with solicitor and they advised that shared residency over our child is not a thing the courts go for. its usually residency to mother and contact to father. HAS ANYONE actually succeeded in obtaining SHARED residency of there children ?......I have her 2 nights a week and parental responsibility but still feel second class.

  • Answer:

For now until the child is school aged you may have a chance for shared residency. I personally dont feel the courts should have a say in as to what is best for the child unless of course the situation needs the courts. You and your other half had this child hopefully out of love and both of you knew what was best for her the time you were together so why not now? The child should not hold a reflective glass in your relationship. The child has nothing to do with your separation. Once your child reaches school age he/she will have to live in one home; but that does not mean you cannot see your child everyday or other day. It is very healthy for your child to have both parents in his/her life. Unless of course the parent is unfit.

i think it depends partly on where you live. but courts don't go for it becauseit's not best for the child. i understand how you feel but think about this from the childs point of view. she has just gonbe through the break up too andit's not fair for her to go back and forth more than necessary.
