Parents, What is a good drop off/pick up time for a 10th birthday sleepover?
-
This will be my 1st time hosting a sleepover so I'm unsure what time should I begin & end my daughter's 10th birthday sleepover. What time would you recommend? Would you prefer it starting on a Friday or Saturday night? Does it even matter what day it starts in? Any tips would be appreciated from parents who've hosted or had their daughter attend sleepovers. Thanks in advance for your time!!!

Answer:
Generally drop off time is in time for supper, and time for the kids to prepare it, if that is the plan. Somewhere between 4-6 pm. Later, if they are just coming for snacks. And we always stayed for breakfast, which wa generally a pastry. I would have preferred Friday night, because the kids could sleep in Saturday morning. Sunday, they would have to maybe get up for church. But of course, you have to do the party when it is convenient for you and yours. If you are getting off work and coming home late on Friday, you might not want a bunch of screaming little girls at your house. some suggestions: have them make their own pizza, or decorate their own cookies. cookie pops are cool, and of course anything that involves the stove or oven is a supervised activity. And research no cook/bake cookies and candies to do on their own with Mom helping with anything that has to melt. Haystacks are yummy, do Rice Krispie treats, or Buckeyes. Or even chocolate covered cherries[they are cherries wrapped in fondant and dipped in chocolate]. another easy one is Magic Cookie bars. allrecipes.com has all of these.

At our house a sleepover would start after school on a Friday and end by noon on Saturday. This gives parents two days to recover.....lol.

by 10, a huge number of kids do sports early on saturday mornings, at least around here, so saturday night tends to be a better sleepover night than friday night. if your daughter's friends aren't so much the sports crowd, then fridays are better because the kids have an extra night to catch up on the lost sleep before heading back to school. my personal rule with slumber parties that i'm hosting is that they can't start before 5. 5:30 is even better. even 6 is an option. i have friends who start slumber parties for their kids mid-afternoon -- and either they have far more energy and stamina then i do or they just don't have enough experience with having that many kids in their house for a long period of time to know that they'll be kicking themselves later.

It doesn't really matter what day it starts as long as it fits the schedule Try 4 pm to 10 am It allows the kids to have fun for a good amount of time
