What are some of the polish customs and traditions?

Polish holiday traditions to teach to children at childcare center?

  • At the childcare center, every month we focus on a different culture. In the month of december, we do "around the world"... we always do something for christmas, chanukan, and kwanza. But we also try to focus on nationalities of children who are actually at the center. We have several chlidren from india, several from asian cultures, and several from poland. We've asked the parents what kind of traditions they remember as children (most of the parents are actually from the other countries, and they bring the children there often to visit).. we have had a good outcome with the exception of poland. We only had one parent contribute and all that he brought in was a sheet of paper that he printed out from the internet but it didnt really even have anything on it that we could teach the children... Any polish holiday traditions that would be a fun learning experience for the little ones in my preschool class? (ages of the children are 3-4)

  • Answer:

My polish grandmother always made lakes (potato pancakes) an pizelles (thing snowflake shaped cookies). I don't know if either of those are specifically polish or just something she did.
