Why are my parents so OVERPROTECTIVE?

Why are parents overprotective?

  • Why don't parents let you wear a little make-up (not over-doing) shave your legs (sometimes) and go with your friends to the movies alone? Well, I understand that one, but I still don't get it! And why don't they trust you sometimes when they know you will be careful?

    Sometimes, its not a matter of they don't trust you. They just don't trust the people in the street. I really never understood the whole, "you can't wear make up/shave your legs" bit. I thought those were some of the stupidest rules parents could ever make for their children. Luckily my parents weren't that narrow-minded.

you're an only child. Am I right? overprotective parents until I got a brother (or maybe it was cuz I got older). Well anyways they loosened up after another sibling or age.
