What opinion can you give on the U.S. financial crisis?

Is a person still entitled to give his/her opinion if no consideration is given as to how that opinion is give?

  • Sure they're entitled to have it, but are they entitled to give it with no caveats, no restrictions or respect of consideration on how that opinion is delivered?

  • Answer:

I have very strong opinions, but I understand that they are MY opinions and are not always necessary or welcome. If I am to make an opinion of mine known I try to phrase it so that it is well received otherwise I might as well be talking to the wall for all the good it would do to be an @ss. I have lost my temper on here a few times and typed before the red haze dissipated, but I do try to be considerate most of the time. We are all entitled to our opinions, and in this country we are entitled to wear them on our shirt, blog them, shout them from the rooftops, and metaphorically *****-slap others with them, but if we stop being considerate the point gets lost. Be nice folks! At least try, you never know, you just might like it.

Some people would call that type of person "open" or "real," I call them rude.

Yes, they are "entitled" to say what they want however they want. But it sure does say a lot about their character!

Lanieb

Yup, and you're entitled to not listen or end the "conversation". Entitlement works both ways.

Mozzie - I've been in court all morning listening to legal mumbo jumbo. I tried to read this question three times and all I saw was opinion. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always give my opinion, I don't give a crap if they wanna hear it or not. :)

Here? Yes, it's an open forum where the people involved know (or should know) that they are having discussions with a wide range of people, with varying opinions and varying personalities. If a question is asked to the general public on an open forum, then any type of answer at all should be expected. IRL? I kind of feel the same. If someone says 'What do you think?', they should expect the person to answer with what they think. But, IRL, if a person doesn't *ask for* an opinion from someone else, *then* people shouldn't give it unless they are being considerate of the other person's feelings & doing their best to deliver it with respect. Of course, overall, it would be a much nicer world if everyone took the time to get to know everyone and to be kind and helpful to everyone they encounter. That's a good goal to have in life. But, it's not always possible, due to time constraints and personal experiences & issues.

On an Open Forum we leave ourselves wide open for all opinions regardless of the way they are sometimes thrown out there without thought and/or decorum. Let the nastiness just roll off Mozz, it's not worth your irritation.

Yes, if it's actually only an "opinion". That's what an opinion is. When asking for an opinion, if you want certain caveats or restrictions taken into account, it's your responsibility to make that clear in advance. Otherwise you can't blame someone from giving their opinion without those caveats and restrictions. This is PARTICULARLY true in any public, open venue.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion but there is a time, a place and a courtesy for that opinion. They can voice the opinion until their faces turn blue, but please be polite about it!
