Is one of the easter baskets more skimpy?

What does your family do for Easter?

  • When I was younger, my parents (The Easter Bunny) would make our easter baskets full of candy and toys, and hide them all around our house. Some of us found our baskets right away, and some of us took 20 minutes! Then we would go to church at 12:30 and an early dinner with the cousins after. After we ate dinner, the dads would go outside and hide all of the plastic easter eggs my grandma had filled with candy. Everyone would go crazy because one of the eggs had a 20 dollar bill in it!!! I had a ton of cousins that came, so we had a ton of eggs. I was talking to my friend the other day and she said that her parents didn't hide their Easter baskets, they just set them down on the counter. She also said she never dyed eggs or had easter egg hunts!!! What does your family do?? I'm really curious!!

We have some family that flies in to spend the weekend with us. My husband's brother, his wife and their 3 daughters and my husband's cousin, her husband and their daughter come and stay with us, in addition to my husband's sister, her boyfriend and their son and daughter who live with us. We all do Easter baskets for our kids and hide them around the living room (easier for the little children as we have 5 toddlers and having them run around the house aimlessly can cause trouble. I do Easter baskets for the adults (a larger one per couple) and leave those set on the counter. They usually have candy, a small Easter bunny stuffed animal, a book or two, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, a kite, and a jump rope. The adult baskets are just filled with candy. Then we meet my husband's aunt and her daughter and our best friends and their 2 daughters (both live down the street from us) for church service. They all come back to our house for lunch. Afterwards, the women sit down with the kids to decorate eggs while the guys go out and hide plastic eggs for an Easter egg hunt. They're not really "hidden" though -- as i said, we have 5 toddlers and our friends have 2 toddlers. We usually just spread them out throughout the grass and let the kids go to town. Although, a few eggs will be hidden for the 3 older kids to make it a little more fun for them; and since those hold a bigger challenge, there's also a bigger reward in each of them.

When I was a kid, we used to buy 'spring cakes' or before the country was communist, 'Easter cakes', at a market and we'd eat that on Easter. We also painted an egg for each member of the family and gave them out on Easter. My family now does not celebrate Easter, however, we do have a large meal on Easter weekend for Passover and eat creme eggs because we like creme eggs.

Dye Easter Eggs the night before, set out Easter Baskets for the kids so they wake up to those in the morning, we hide some Easter Eggs for them to find, then we usually just have a nice breakfast and go to church. This year after church two of my friends' families are coming over after church to just hang out by the pool and the kids can all hang out :)

Well this is my daughter's second Easter, but first she can enjoy. We dont hid our baskets, but we're hiding over 100 eggs and having a huge egg hunt. Some of the eggs have money, but most have candy. Me niece is coming over for the egg hunt and were having a traditional Easter dinner. Easter is 10 days before my daughter turns 1 so it will be so much fun!

Our church as an earlier than normal service on the holidays that we attend. My husband and I send to the hospital, a welcome home basket to each baby from us at birth, that of course the baby knows nothing about until later..lol We fill that same basket every year with their favorite beverage, chips, a favorite sweet which I am picking up cupcakes later, a few pieces of candy. We get them each an Easter card to remind them of why this day is celebrated. My husband and I also have baskets that are bigger than theirs..lol He fills mine and I fill his. I bought the puppy and kitten a basket. :) I will put the baskets out in the morning after church, we will have breakfast read the cards. Decide what movie wie will watch while munching the chips and drinking our beverages. That's it.
