6 month old rubbing eyes, squinting and covering face?
-
My 6 month old is rubbing his eyes, squinting, and covering his face with his arms alot...could something be wrong? We are taking Allegra for possible seasonal allergies, but he continues to do it frequently. He also sometimes grabs his head. I'm worried about him. What are people's thoughts on this?

Answer:
My daughter does this when she is over due for a nap. She will squint, pull up her blanket, rub her eyes and pull on her hair. !! For your own piece of mind you should see pedi if it worries you. Good Luck!

Take him to the doctors. He might be light sensitive. Have you checked for conjuctivitus ?

my little un does the same. you'll notice that when he rubs his eyes hes tired and wants to go to bed. don't be putting him on any medication if ur not 100% sure that is what is wrong with him. i'd advise u to stop giving him the Allegra because if its not seasonal allergies then mayb some damage will come of taking those meds. try putting him to bed when he rubs his eyes coz i do to my little un and she wakes up fresh and won't rub her eyes again until another nap time

It could be pollen or light sensitivity. My son has is light sensitive and has to wear sunglasses everytime. If it is pollen, try wiping his eyes with water occasionally.

I agree that: 1. the doc should check him out, and 2. he could be sensitive to light. I also think he could have an ear infection or inflammation if he is grabbing his head. You're his mother - you know what's normal for him and what's not. Trust your instincts.

Well my thought is to take him to the doctor. Sounds as if he has a sinus infection that gives him headaches.

My little brother did this when he was a baby and its just what babies do. He did used to scratch his head occasionally so just be aware of that.

that you're just an over worried mother... show me one kid who didn't do that at some point.... it could be due to any number of reasons from being tired to smoke in the room hurting his eyes.
