Where does the butterfly get its name from?

Where did you get your baby's name....?

  • Is he/she named after anyone special? Or is it a name you happen to fall in love with? Just curious! =) My daughter's name is Lilah Emmarie. I had decided to name her Emma Marie for about 4 months of my pregnancy after my great grandmother Emma, and my grandmother (Annice) Marie. But seems Emma is one of the most popular names nowadays and one night while watching Will & Grace, (7 months preggo) Grace had a baby and name her Lilah. I instantly fell in love! So, I just combined Emma and Marie and made it Emmarie. That way I could keep the namesake, as it was very important for her to have those two names, they resemble two wonderfully strong amazing women in my life. Plus, I always wanted my daughter to have a unique name, one where she wouldn't be the same as 5 other girls in her class at school. What's your story?

My daughter is Alexis Nicole. I worked at a daycare for 12 1/2 yrs. There was a lil' girl named Alexis in my room (2 1/2-3 yr olds). She had the brightest smile ever. After a rough start (first time at daycare) she warmed up and usually came in w/a smile. I would get down on my knees and ask for a hug & USUALLY she would come right up to me, smiling. Then her parents took her out (not sure why). After a while, we received a call that she had a lump on her spine & they were doing tests. It was cancer. I'm getting goosebumps thinking abt this. She was one of the best behaved kids in the class when she was there. She liked to talk. She went through extensive treatments, losing her hair to chemo. Keep in mind she was around 3 at the time of diagnosis. I'm happy to say that they recently did a scan & the cancer is gone. Her hair grew back & she became healthy once again. I hope she stays that way. I loved her name & her story behind it. Nicole is another lil' girl from the daycare. She even called me "mommy" once. We were attached. I babysat her & Erin, her big sis. Down the road they were pulled out. Parents both having problems. Mom especially with drinking. Dad too occasionally. I liked their mom a lot. Then one day I received a phone call that absolutely devastated me. The girls' mother passed away in a hospital due to alcoholism. I cried & cried. Still to this day I'm sad. Thankfully they're grandparents have custody & they are thriving. I love them & told the grandmother that if I had the means & the money, I would have taken them in an INSTANT (well, if they'd let me). And I wasn't kidding. I always knew if I had a baby girl that the name Nicole would be in there. Alexis came second. I love them both. Sorry so long. Sentimental.

I just think Hallie is a beautiful name. (pronounced like Halle Berry, not hayley) And her middle name is Jayne (pronounced like Jane). It is my Grandmother's, mother's, my own, and my daughter's middle name! I thought heck, I may not ever have another girl so I better keep the name going!

My husband was playing his guitar singing about nature and pretty things so he started singing about daisy flowers and I instantly fell in love. We named her Daisy while I was still pregnant and now we have our little flower here with us 3 and a half months later!

at first i thought emmarie was to out there, but it really has a nice sound. and flows well with lilah. good job! my dd is jocelyn elise i was sure we were gonna have a boy so i picked jonas edison. jonas because in the bible he was stubborn and strong willed but in the end he still obeyed god, even though it was hard for him to do. (jonas is what they call jonah in the nt) and its not common. edison is my husbands dads middle name who i never was fortunate enough to meet. i hear he was a great man though. so i swore the Dr's were wrong when they said we were having a girl, so i let my husband find a good name that i agreed with. jocelyn means joyful elise means consecrated to god. i think its actually perfect. not to common, not out there, and the meaning is nice. *me not beliving the drs was me being stubborn cuz i wanted a boy, and thought if i believed it hard enough i would have one. i know thats stupid, but at least im honest.

I just absolutely LOVE your daughter's name. It's beautiful and original. Very good choice!! I choose Jackson's name because I love the way it sounds and I always knew it would be my first son's name. It was kinda of an instict type of feeling. Also, the meaning is the most important. It means "lover or nature/outdoors" and to me, that is SO important. So far, so true, this boy loves being outside. And as for his middle name, Avery, I got that from me just liking it and the meaning being "of a business mind". I thought having a serious meaning would also be good. And obviously, last but not least, how it all sounded and flowed with the last name combined. It just was meant to be!

That is a beautiful name! Very unique :) Mu daughter is Jaiden Mackenzie. My husband and I did a process of elimination deal with names VERY early on in my pregnancy... like 10 weeks?! lol He chose ten girl and boy names and I did the same. We then offered the names we chose and crossed them out, getting down to our favorite boy and girl name. His favorite girl name was Jaiden while mine was Mackenzie. We agreed to put our choices together and came up with Jaiden Mackenzie! For a boy I chose Noah and he chose Julien. Julien Noah was the choice but when we look back we hate that name and are glad we got a girl! We stuck with the name from that day on. We're simple-named folk.. Lisa and Bryan. We wanted something interesting and cute and we get complimented on her name a lot so I guess we did good!
