Has anyone ever breastfed/nursed while at work?

• It seems like most people decide to pump if they want to continue breastfeeding after they go back to work. Has anyone on here brought the baby to work (or had someone bring them the baby at work) to be breastfed? My husband and I are planning on working out a work schedule where he'll be home with the baby most days and when he isn't, his parents will be with the baby. We live less than a mile from my work, so I am hoping that someone can bring me my baby at work and I can breastfeed him/her during my break. My plan is that I'd nurse on one side and pump on the other so that I could get enough milk for another feeding later in the day. (Obviously, I'd switch off which side I was pumping on and which I was nursing on.) I'd probably do another round of pumping somewhere else in the day so that I could get enough milk for additional feedings. Is that okay with most employers? I'd be taking the same amount of time that it would take me to pump -- just re-distributing it to breastfeed. My only worry is that my boss would see bringing the baby to work as a distraction (I work in a school). But I think I could bring the baby into the building and to my room fairly discreetly so that it wouldn't be a big distraction for the students. Plus, if it's happening everyday, then you'd think it would become just part of the daily routine. Does anyone have experience with this? Did you try it? Did it work? Did you ask for it from your employer? What did they say?

  I'd talk with my employer before returning to work. They may be concerned with liability with having a baby on site. You may do better planning to nurse in the car on your breaks.
