Answer:
oh of course you can dip her/him in the water ...... or play gently, gently sliding her/his hips in the water letting the water and her become familiar... its newborns your suppose to sponge bath b/c of the umbilical cord.. once its off and no infection they can be bathed and can go swI'mming.... of course only in a swallow baby pool with adult supervision of course im sure you knew this. EDIT- only 6 months + can wear sun block the answerer above me is wrong read the bottles u cannot put sunblock on a 4 month old..... just dont be in the sun too long.

It's fine. He can get in the water. Just don't let him drink a ton of it, and don't let him get too cold.

Most babies love water! I would suggest buying a Stage 1 baby Safety First baby float. They usually look like little boats with toys on them. This will help the baby play and enjoy the water and keep the strain off of your back trying to hold him/her up and keep his/her mouth above water. Also, be sure to use baby safe sunscreen and reapply often. I would also suggest a wide brimmed hat for baby. They sell little mini bucket hats that have strings so they don't fall off. This will help keep baby safe! Also, make sure he/she doesn't get too cold. Adults have a tendency to forget that even though it's sunny out, to a baby's sensitive skin, the water is freezing! After about 30 minutes, take the baby out of the water and wrap in a towel and have some relaxation time out of the pool. This will help baby get warm again. After 30 minutes of being out, baby can go back in.

I'd be more concerned about the sun by the water than about getting wet. He might not like the cool water at first, but should get a kick out of it. You'd be surprised how well an infant can do in the water.

Yeah, I have had my kids in the pool or at the beach since they were tiny. They all now know how to swim & love the water.

Sure as long as he doesn't scream. If he hates it take him out. Just keep the water out of his mouth and ears .

S/he could go swimming too. Just make sure to use a little swimmers or similar....that way if baby poops, you guys will be safe. Oh, and don't use a floaty yet. Keep your hands on your baby at all times!
