Where can I buy crib hardware?

With second child, did you buy a toddler bed or another crib?

  • We're TTC right now so I'm just planning ahead. Noah is 15 months old and his crib is a transitional one(so it can go into the toddler bed, etc.). If you've had this type of crib and were expecting your second did you buy a toddler bed for your older child or just buy another crib? I'm thinking in the long run it may be more cost efficient to buy another transitional crib. But who knows! Thanks!

  • Answer:

We bought a toddler bed. My first two boys are 2 years apart, so Josh was ready to move to a toddler bed by then anyhow. We just put the bed against the wall and put one of those guard rails on the open side so he wouldn't fall out. When we had our third baby the older ones were ages 6 and 3.5 so both were already in twin "big boy" bed :) Buying a transition crib would be a good idea especially if you plan on having more than just one more baby. ETA: Oh me and your imposter have become good friends by the way. It's telling me to go die and following me around giving me thumbs downs. Probably a prepubesant brat on summer vacation.

I would just buy a nice twin bed. We bough our son a really nice bunk bed set when we started ttc, it just took us a LOT longer than we expected, my boys are 7 years apart.

I love how your imposter made like 7 accounts to give itself thumbs ups and give others (House Full) thumbs downs. hope it sleeps well in its trailer park tonight. Anyway about you, buy a transitional bed. sometimes kids go through phases where they want to "be the baby" after a new baby comes

We are still trying to decide what to do as well. I am 14wks. and we have a daughter who just turned 2. We are leaning on the toddler bed before this baby is born. Then it can be passed down to the baby. Then we'll just find a twin.

Luckily we had a family friend whose son had a fire engine bed that he outgrew. He sold it to us for $50 and we passed the crib onto my daughter. http://www.step2.com/product.cfm?product_id=1165 The toddler beds at Wal-Mart are not very expensive. When my daughter turned 15 months, we got her a princess bed. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10737512

my son has a 4-in-one crib we are not expecting or currently ttc, but when we do have another baby we will buy another convertible crib. they seem to be the most cost effective. my sons crib didnt cost that much. i think it was about $200 on line at walmart.com its a stork craft.

Who the heck is Team Slapahoe? What a name!! I have thought about this to even thought we aren't TTC yet, Ryan is only 9 months. I was thinking if Ryan is out of his crib by the time we have our 2nd ( Which I am sure he will be ) We could pass his crib onto the new baby and Ryan will have a toddler bed. Like the fire engine one, or something cute and small. I have seen so many toddler beds on craigslist all the time.

2 boys stole my heart!

My daughter is almost 3 and I am due with my second on Nov 23, and what we did was buy a twin bed for her so that her transitional crib could be used for the new baby. I think you'll get so much more use out of buying a bed for your older child and reusing the crib for the new baby when it comes because if your not yet pregnant it will be at the very least 10 months till you will need a crib anyway and Noah will be 2 and probably will very much enjoy a "big boy" bed. Good luck to you.
