What are some traditions you do on Easter?

What are your Easter traditions & a few other questions :)?

  • Hi. What are your plans for Easter this year? What are your traditions? What do you plan on putting in your childs Easter Basket? My little girl is 3 months old & Im having a tough time trying to figure out what to give her. I already got the Babys First Easter outfit from Target. I was thinking about getting her some sippy cups (since she'll be using those soon), an Easter book, a stuffed bunny, bubbles (I will be blowing them but she might like to watch..especially this summer when she's 6+ months.. right?). Any other ideas? Im bored at work.. Can ya tell? :-)

"What are your plans for Easter this year?" Those are TBD at the moment. I'm almost 38 weeks pregnant, scheduled to deliver next Tuesday. I told my family we can *probably* still come for Easter... but we'll have to see what happens. :D Traditions - we go to my brother's house and have a big family Easter dinner. My daughter was not even two months old on her first Easter. Her basket got filled up with lots of new little outfits, books, toys, etc. My husband and I got her a baby swing. We had several hand-me-downs that were battery operated, but I found a great deal on one that plugged into the wall with an adapter. Loved that thing, and now it's set up for the new baby! LOL. Have fun, happy early Easter!

I have no clue what I'm going to get my daughter yet. But as for traditions we go to church, like we do every week. I'll read to her in the Bible where it talks about Jesus and how he died for our sins. When she wakes up in the morning we'll have the easter eggs lined up for her to follow to find her easter basket, she'll make them go all over the place until it finally reaches where the basket is! She's 19 months old.

I got my 4 month old a cute onsie, a cloth book with teething binding, organic bath wash, bubbles, a summer bonnet and a couple new passifiers. I'll probably get some baby cookies and new spoons too. It's fun to look around for little basket stuffers!

If your baby is 3 months old, I wouldn't bother going overboard. She won't know the difference. My baby is almost 10 months and we won't be getting him anything (I think his grandparents will spoil him enough as it is). Easter isn't about that. Sure, it's nice to give and get presents and chocolate, but the main purpose of Easter is to worship God and thank him for sending his son to die for our sins. We'll be going to church and spending time with family. Happy Easter to You and your little girl!

Wow, you just gave me several good ideas for my 4 month old's Easter basket! LOL I was already planning on getting her a cute outfit, or maybe even a dress, but I was really having trouble thinking of other things. My mom always filled mine with candy, but I can't do that for her obviously! I'll pick her up some bubbles and then one other idea I had was a little baby book of textures...you know, the ones that have different fabrics and stuff in them, she's really into feeling things right now. As for traditions, the only one I participate in is Easter dinner with my husband's family...but I can't wait until my sweet muffin is old enough to dye eggs and go Easter egg hunting!

mine is 3 months old too. i thinks he's too young for a basket. he doesnt even really want toys yet. My mom, brother, and I still dye easter eggs (lol im 27 and my brother's 19) and we're going to church then out to eat with the whole family and my son is wearing his new easter outfit. and i'll probably get portraits done of him in that outfit soon after that.

Honestly I hadn't even thought about getting her an Easter basket yet. I guess I should since I did Santa. My family tradition is to sleep in. We used to always go to church that morning, but realized that it was always packed. That is the time of year when everybody who never attends does attend. So even though we attend church every week, we refuse to fight the crowds for a seat at Easter and Christmas. Let those who attend twice a year have our seats. After sleeping in we go to my parents' house for lunch and my mother still makes us do an easter egg hunt. I guess for my daughter I will buy her an outfit, stuffed animal and some candy. I am looking forward to the candy because I gave up all goodies for Lent and will be able to enjoy them after 40 long days. Have fun at work.

Neat question! My son is 17 months old and he's getting one of those electronic play driver toys? You know, the kind with the lights, turn signal, and steering wheel. It's too big for his basket, so it'll sit next to it. In his basket I'm putting some Leap Frog learning DVDs. He won't be interested in them yet, but in a few months he can start watching them and learn from them. I'm not putting any candy. He doesn't need it, and my husband and I don't either! On Easter, we will likely go to church and then split the afternoon between my parents' place and my husband's parents' place. I like what you are putting in your daughter's basket! I think she'll like the bubbles! Cute idea. :o) Make sure you take a lot of pictures because you'll need them for her baby book! Try to get a pic with her and the basket full of stuff. :o) Such a sweet memory.

My husbands family has a reunion every year on Easter Sunday up in Georgia so it's about an hours drive away. So we usually sleep in now (I used to go to church every Easter just like every other Sunday) and then get up get dressed, get our food ready to take with us and head up there for the day. They usually have an easter egg hunt and what not at the family pond house. It's a neat new tradition that I love. I did miss going to church at first for the first couple of years that we were together, but now it's just become a new tradition for us and I love it. Now instead of getting a new easter dress we get new easter outfits since we dont' have to dress up and we are still able to celebrate Jesus' resurrection there. Also Haley will be meeting most of my husbands family for the first time that day. So that will be exciting this year. I haven't decided yet on an easter basket. I'm trying to think of things I can actually put in it that she will use. I'm having a hard time with that this year with all the holidays since she doesn't really understand what is going on. We just got her a baby's first valentine's card this year and my husband and I signed it and will show it to her when she's older. May just do that with Easter too.

For sure, don't worry about the candy and chocolate, but get stuff she needs. A fun stuffed animal,a new outfit, a cute swim suit(summer is right around the corner), and picture books are always good too.
