I am having a mixed baby and was wondering what color will the baby look like me or the dad? I am white and the babys dad is black. I know when i have the baby , he/she will look white-ish or more red but i wonder how long will it take for the babys skin to get darker?

Answer:
depends. My friend is like that though she looks full black around black people and could pose as a white person around whites. She's a deep tan. In between. It depends. Does it matter though?

It is going to come out looking like a zebra with black and white stripes.

Hey Amanda, There is no right answer to this question. Genetics are getting better but mother nature has a sense of humor. Your child can come out looking exactly like you or exactly like the father. or... something in between. Also the gene can stay hidden for a generation or two. and the racial traits can surface when your child has children. Its all part of the fun of have a kid. Good luck!

My children are mixed and it's a hard thing to tell. Generally, they will develope a color medium to that of the parents. Often though, the children will have slightly different skin tones from each other, one being slightly darker, one slightly lighter. It is very rare for them to be as light or as dark as either or the parents. But genetics is a very diffucult thing to predict since it is so varied and complex. There are many genes just for skin tone alone. The baby's color is usually set after a couple months and most likely will not change after that.

I'm in the same situation. I'm white & my fiance is black. I'm due July 6 and we have 3D pics from the ultrasound so we know what his face looks like, but not what color he is. I guess it will just be a surprise!

why does color matter? and, who could possibly know who a baby is going to resemble before it is born? not to be harsh, but please don't get hung up on color for your baby's sake. sort out this color thing before your baby is born, because you're going to be his/her main supporter. and, if you are colorstruck now, i fear for the rejection that your baby is going to feel from you later in his/her life.

ok the baby migth be ligth skin and have nappy hair or be like a caramel color with culry hair. it gonna take the baby at least 3 weeks for you to notice a change, if its born wit curly hair expect it to be nappy

its hard to tell. my best friend has two mixed kids who are light brown skinned and look fully black and have ever since a few months old. My little girl on the other hand has all of her father (who is black) features down to the booty but has my complexion and my hair color. i have another friend who has a DNA proven mixed baby with blonde hair and blue eyes. So its hard to tell until you have the baby.

hard to say precisely... it varies with your personal genes
