Why are our teeth temperature sensitive?

Do you think that a 103 degree temperature on 1yr old could be just teeth? More details...?

  • My 1yr old son has been running a temperature of 103 and he is sleeping alot. I took him to the ER and they said it is just his teeth, not to worry. Has anyone else had this happen and it actually just be that the child was teething?

  • Answer:

That seems too high to me, alternate infants tylonal and infants motrin to get the fever down and get with your regular doctor

yeh this happened to me just a few months ago, my son is 15 months now. the er told me that just having a temp was ok. if it was a temp followed by other symptoms, then to worry. but yeh, if he just has a temp than he is pro;;y fine.

Mine never ran that high w/ teething. If he has had a runny nose from teething it could also be an ear infection.

Triplet Mom!!!

It could be teething or could be a sign of an infection.

teething is not stated as a rason for increased temperature in infants no matter what friends and relatives tell you. I am shocked that the ER suggessted it. Infant paracetamol suspension and loose fitting clothes will help keep that temperature down. If it persists tell the doctor even though they will advise what I just have. If his temperature stays please take him to the doctors.

Oh yeah..My son had a temp of like 104.2 or something like that...anyways...I called the ER and they told me that I had to call his Dr. so I did and they said that He could be teething...to give him some baby tylanol and if his temp didn't go down within 4 hours to call the ER...It's totally normal...

When my son had a fever from teething (he didn't get it every time thank goodness) it was usually higher than what the books said it would be, BUT the fact that your son is very sleepy concerns me a lot more. Do you have a regular pediatrician? I would take him there especially if the ER doctor wasn't a pediatric specialist. (A lot of hospitals don't have pediatricians on duty at all times) I know babies can get fevers much higher than what adults would be, but when they're lethargic it's worth getting checked out.

it is not normal but if the doctor said it is okay then it is okay.

I didn't personally have this happen. I would just keep him cool. Make sure he's uncovered and lite clothes (if any) on. It could be just teething. I wouldn't worry to much as long as he's sleeping. Make sure you give him something cold to chew on, that should also bring down any high fever. good luck. hope he's ok.

Yeah my sis went threw that with my niece. All I did is take a picture of cold water and dumped it over her head. Made her feel warmer. If it is outside then you should try to dump cold water over his head. Only cold things cool down a child when they are running a temperature.
