How to lighten your eye color?

The eye color of my 6 day old baby is dark blue, may it lighten up?

  • My eye color is brown the same with my mother and father. My wife's eye color is green, her mother eyes are blue and her fathers eyes are brown. One of my sisters kids has green eyes so I thought it could happen with mine.

  • Answer:

The main gene for eye color has 2 possible values--brown or blue/green. If you have *at least* one brown gene, you will have brown eyes. If you have 2 blue genes, you will have blue (or green--more later) eyes. So your wife has 2 blue genes, but you may have 2 brown or you may have 1 brown and one blue. A second gene distinguishes between green and blue (but *only* if you have blue eyes from the first gene above). If you have *at least* one green gene, your light-colored eyes will be green. If you have 2 blues, you'll have blue eyes. The bottom line is...your child has either a 50 or 100 percent chance of having brown eyes. (No way to know whether it is 50 or 100.) If they're not brown, it depends on what you have on that second gene (your wife has blue-blue.) If you have 1 green and 1 blue gene, baby has a 25% chance of green and 25% blue. If you have 2 green genes, baby will have green eyes. If you have 2 blue genes, baby will have blue eyes.

Maybe or maybe not who cares as long as you love your baby it does it matter.

yes, it is very possible that his eyes will change color as he gets older. actually most babies eye color do change, especially if they are blue, they are blue because they havent been exposed to light and dont have any pigment yet. after your babies first birthday, his eye color should be permanent, but until then, they can and probably will change.

Most children have blue eyes from birth to about 6 months ...then the color will change to the one they will have forever

you can really never be sure four of my kids were born with dark blue eyes and they ended up having brown eyes, my fifth child was born with light blue eyes and now his change with his mood from blue to green. no matter how they turn out i'm sure you love your child to pieces.

I would think so, apparentl all babies are born with blue eyes, and about 6 months they have their settled colour.

Brown eyes are dominant over blue and green Most likely your child's eyes will turn brown. If they don't in the next 6 months then they are going to stay the color that they are. I have brown eyes and my husband has blue (his whole family almost has blue eyes) and our son was born with blue eyes but they changed to brown. They are brown now like mine. That is the only thing of my son that looks like me. lol he looks like he was dug out of my husbands a$$. (they look alot alike) All babies eyes are blue when they are born...

The babies eyes most generally are all born with like this grey colored to charcole looking eyes and in time yes they do change color. it starts changing i think about 2- 4months of age. I have 4 kids and all mine were born with really dark blue eyes that they were like greyand now 3 of them have light blue eyes and 1 has green eyes. my eyes are hazel anf there dads eyes are blue. But yes most time eye color changes after they get older.
