How much to charge for an overnight baby sitting job?

How much should I charge for baby-sitting?

  • The only baby-sitting I've done was for my cousin when he was 3 or 4 yrs old years back. I'm local, so I'm staying within my neighborhood for safety and gas reasons. I'm pretty mature, loving, kind, and get good grades but parents won't know that unless they let me baby sit. I'll be 16 in July, so I need some reasonable prices that parents would be okay with. Min. wage in Vegas is $8.25 but I was thinking about $9 per hour. Should I charge by the hour or total? If I charge total I don't want it to be less than $15 and if I charge per hour I don't want it to be more than $10. I want to milk the cow but I don't want to NOT have business.

  • Answer:

Well i'm 14 and I got paid from around 8 to 9 Bucks an hour, so I think they should be paying you at least 10 dollars an hour(:

I live in Upstate New York and it's between $7 and $10 per hour. Usually you don't really need to ask for a specific amount, you can ask the parents what they pay, and it'll probably be right around what you're looking for. some parents might give you more for when the child is awake but then a little less if the child is sleeping.

I would definitely say charge by the hour: For 3 and older- 7.00 an hour and for 2 and under 9.00 an hour
