How to tell my mom I want to join an lgbt youth group?

  • I am 14 and am in a cyber school. I dont really hang out with my friends from my other school anymore so I pretty much dont have any friends. I would really like to make some LGBT friends, but the only way is by going to an lgbt group. All my mom wants is for me to have a nice group of friends because I never really have, so she asked if there was anything I wanted to join to make friends. Well, I want to join an lgbt group like I said, but how can I tell her that if I am not out? She will probably be like, 'WTF IS THAT?' There is a group that meets at one of my favorite ice cream shops but I would have to drive there and I cant. So what should I do? HELP!

    Try to explain your situation and that this is the way you are. Try to get her sympathy and see things your way. Explain how you would feel most comfortable with this group

Just tell her you want to join a Local Government Development Program Youth Group or do you mean the Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender, youth group. nothing wrong either group As for cyber school & friends you can join plenty of other things such as church youth group, a drama theater group, local homeschool groups, volunteer, sports & so much more.

Just say there is a group that meets at the ice cream shop that you would like to get to know better. You could also say you have a friend there and would like to support them if she wants to know the true meaning of the group.
