What is the best "normal and cheap" thrift shop in London?

UK teens - where do you shop?

  • I'm going to London and Scotland in 9 days and I want to know where to shop. Like where to get the basics and where to go for formal stuff. Are there any good vintage shops or thrift stores? I'd love it if you could tell me some more about shopping in the UK and about what to expect. Is it expensive? What are some shops I MUST visit? I don't know, tell me all there is about shopping in the UK!

  • Answer:

Go to primark, love a bit of primark, there's all the nice stuff but it's so cheap :) It is as expensive as you make it over here, depends where you go and what you're looking for. Try and go to Jack Wills :) There's also Hollister, topshop, river island, new look, selfridges, all saints, accessorize, republic, zara, mango, house of fraser, debenhams and abercrombie. they're the most decent ones :)

I live in Brighton, but I often go to London. London is the best place for shopping and there are many wonderful places to go shopping. Knightsbridge have all the fancy stores, Oxford Street is the main shopping place and we have Forever 21, Urban Outffitters, American Apparel. There's Convent Garden and on the weekend there's Portobello market, where you have many vintage stalls. Peacocks is a good shop, but Primark is the best. New Look, TopShop, River Island. We have many amazing stores. Have fun x

If you are from the US then yes, everything in the UK is more expensive. In the UK most people buy what they like from where they like. Primark is really cheap, but has up to date and fashionable things. Hell, even ASDA has some nice stuff if you trawl through the junk. We're not brand obsessed, obviously Abercrombie is still popular but no one really cares if you have bought your stuff from a supermarket, a charity shop or from Gucci. I would say visit: Primark Topshop Debenhams New Look And just randomly go into shops and have a look. Fashionable clothes are common in the UK, we just lack the ability to dress for our body shapes. You'll see really cheap copies of High end handbags/clothes and shoes. But copies that look pretty convincing. I've found buying clothes is far cheaper in the US. Whenever I go I take an empty suitcase and just buy clothes while I'm there because it's so much cheaper. And although when you convert the pound and dollar it may look like our is less. - £30 would be $45. It's actually more expensive in pounds. EDIT: Also, you might want to check out "Zara" Kate Middleton (Prince William's wife) shops there!
