Boyfriend wants me to help him quit smoking cigarettes?

not sure what to do.. we haven't been dating long at all and he wants me to help him quit. he's been smoking for a couple years now. (we're both 18) at first he said he only smokes a few a day but after being around him enough i see he smokes 10-15 cigs per day. a majority of his friends smoke too (i don't.) i have never made an issue of him smoking so this is not my idea whatsoever. i don't know what to do because i know i can't make him quit. i don't want to be that 'controlling girlfriend' that is always nagging her boyfriend about smoking and/or the girlfriend who gets lied to about smoking by a guy because she makes such a big deal out of it. yet at the same time i feel like i should help since he's asking but i don't know how to.. one thing i have been doing is making comments like 'a few cigs a day, huh?' jokingly. ugh, please help me!
