What can I do to stop getting distracted when I'm trying to do my homework?

i try and put myself in a place with no distractions. my boyfriend comes over everyday after school and we take turns watching our son so the other can finish their homework. whenever he's there (and this might sound kind of weird but it really helps) i do my homework in the laundry room =P the humming of the washing machine is really soothing and there's no distractions there. i'm just like you, i use any and every excuse to put off my homework lmao. it's terrible, i'm such a porcrastinator. and i started bursting out laughing when i read the glue thing. i used to do that all the time when i was bored in school. then one day, in like 5th grade, my teacher caught me doing it during a lesson and called my house because she thought i had like mental problems hahaaa. it really is addicting and super fun =]

i have the same problem! i do a lot of the things you do. probably 4/5 =]. i find it helpful if i say "if i get this done i will get to...." just find somthing that motivates you. and i read everything outloud so i dont ignore what im reading and start thinking about other things. i go to the bathroom and get a drink before, do i have no excuses to get up. i also turn off my ipod and the tv and everything. i dont like doing school work either but i do it cause if i pass math and science i dont have to take them next year! =]

Try to do your homework in a "distraction free" environment. Go sit in an office, dinning room, wherever has the least distractions. If there is something there that you know will bother you, then move it before you start with your work. Make a goal for yourself. Say if you have your homework done without any distractions you'll do this. Or have your friends help you with this part. Bribery always works. That's all I can really advise you. Good luck.

Try doing your homework in a quiet place with enough lighting. Just focus on school. Remove all those distractions make sure your makeup bag, gel pens, glue, elastic bands, and flat iron are not even in the same room. You might need glue at some point but I'm in high school and I rarely use glue and gel pens so you don't need those. Just sit at a table with silence and do your work. Think of all the stuff you can do after your done studying and how much free time you will have. Hope this helps.

ur a procrastinator? join the club :)! i always put off doing things that i find less than thrilling (ie. homework). just take the things that distract u out of ur room while ur doing wat u need to do. focus, focus, focus and before u know it, u'll be done. then u'll have all the time in the world to peel glue, flick rubber bands and straighten ur hair :)

Same here it sucks, but really, i dont know what to do. I usually end up doing my homework at like 7-8 o clock which is like way too late to start. I just try to tell myself..." If you don't do this you'll get a F." Sometimes i even put it off till the next morning and thats not a good habit to get into :P
