I need a perfect watch for a nurse.

What a 16 year old girl be more trustworthy to watch a child than a 60 year old woman?

  • I need to go back to work full time, and because I'm a registered nurse I have to pick up extra shifts from time to time since so many people have been fired for failing drug screening test i believe. I pay for daycare for the mornings but I might also need a sitter/nanny for my 1 year old daughter. I talked to my mom about it and she told me that if I do that I'm better off getting a high school student rather than an older woman, because they neglect children more. At first I thought she was out of her mind because I thought older women would be more patient with children, But I've found SOOOOO many cases of older women abusing children and even molesting them. I have yet to find one with a teenager who has done such things. Now guys are out of the question for babysitting my daughter, PERIOD. But for you moms out there I was wondering if it's easier to have a teenager watch my child? I plan on putting cameras in my house anyway just so that I would know. But I'm not sure if they would be mature enough to watch my daughter correctly. From time to time my mom watched her but her work schedule changed and my sister works as well otherwise they would. And any other family is too far away. And daycare ends at 5. SO I would like to know other mothers experiences with teens and elder women.

    i dont believe ur generalizing at all, i think you're a concerned parent for her child as she should be so idk what these ppl are talking about. her mother & a random elder women r two different people she knows her mom & i doubt she would leave her daughter with her if she didnt trust her. cant say the same for an elderly woman she doesnt know so thats not a fair comparison.maybe they took it the wrong way?? but i think you should do a background check for whoever u hire and maybe ask the teachers or parent or friends about the student you hire. it all really depends.

My 16 year old daughter would be a great sitter. However my 60+ year old mother would be too. If daycare ends at 5, how many hours are you talking? Would your requirements fit into a teenage lifestyle with school and homework? Does your shift end at 6am? Good luck!

My Mums 59 and Takes care of my nephew he has brain damage and autism and she does well taking care of him and she's almost 60 so no I find what you say to be false, judgemental and you generalise too much.

I think it all depends on the 16 year old girl and the 60 year old woman. I don't think it's fair to generalize. I'm not too far from 60. No way would I neglect a child in my care, nor abuse or molest it. And I don't know how old your mom is, but I'll bet she doesn't neglect, abuse, or molest children either. I'm shocked that she is tarring others with that brush. There are very responsible 16 year olds, and there are the ones who come into your house, eat your food, invite their boyfriend over, and/or sit on the phone chatting or texting, all the while ignoring your child.
