How can you tell where the Easter Bunny has been?

How do I tell my 9 year old the truth about the Easter Bunny?

  • My husband is having surgery just days before Easter and I can't really keep up the tradition of treasure hunting this year. What should I say to make it easier?

  • Answer:

I was a teacher, and many of the 9-yr olds still believed in the Easter Bunny. A small percentage of the 11-yr olds still believed in Santa. Start by asking your child what he/she thinks about the Easter bunny, to find out if you're actually breaking any news or not. Then, if you really are having to break the news, be gentle, since your child may already be stressed about your husband's upcoming surgery. Instead of saying something like "the Easter Bunny isn't real" say something like, "the Easter Bunny is a game we like to play, because we know you have fun, and we love to do things for you that make you happy." Then you can explain why this year will be different, and maybe plan some other special event for later in the year when it's less stressful. Best wishes for your discussion with your child, and also for your husband's surgery.

Most 9 year olds don't believe in the Easter Bunny. They just let you have fun believing they do. Just tell her.

First off your child is 9, he/she already knows the truth about the easter bunny. But like all of us as children will still look forward to candy/gifts. It wont take but a few minutes of your time for the treasure hunt and I am sure your husband would have no problems with you doing it for your children. Its not about believing in the easter bunny, its about tradition and being a kid

Kindly explain that the Easter Bunny has died of Myxomatosis and will be unable to deliver eggs this year.

First tell him the true meaning of Easter its not about the bunny I don't know your religious beliefs but My 9 year old found out about Santa and I just let him know what Christmas was really about. Its OK to tell him about there not being a Easter Bunny you can still have the baskets and the egg hunt let him be part of putting it together for the younger children he will love the feeling of helping make other kids happy.
