What are some ideas for raising money?

New Ideas for raising money for Girl Scouts?

  • Our Troop wants to find some new ideas for raising money, other than selling cookies. Can anyone think of a new idea of how to do that? The girls are dieing to get their hands dirty and earn some money. There are some awesome trips that we want to take the girls on later next year when it's warmer, but we don't have a whole lot of good ideas on how to do so. Anyone have any good ideas?

  • Answer:

ahh yeah I was a girl scout. Well I have alot of Ideas but dont know what youre up to. 1. sell candy m&ms snickers lolipops- have like a mini candy store at a baseball game or basketball game at the childrens school 2. Do a public talent show and charge admision and have it at the school gym at night. 3.collect soda bottles and cash them in. Have the girls go around or hand out flyers to people at a grocery store and say were trying to raise money for a troop event can you help. (Have a soda can drive.) 4. The girls can have a walk a thon and have sponsers 5. If wheather permits if its warm where you live have a car washes and charge 5 dollars or so 6. sell crafts or have a yard sale with the girls and their family/friends 7. In the spring or summer have a bbq and charge admision 8. If you have nice wheather you could do a raffle and a spagetti and money made will go to the troop. 9. Have a dance a thon and the money collected can go to the troop.

If it aint broke don't fix it. Girl scout cookies are perhaps the best fundraising product world wide, and probably the easiest sell that will pull in the most money. When someone sees a girl scout selling something else they will be sure to ask, where are the cookies?

Garage Sale- we used to do this as a youth group, and people were generous to give us there old stuff, and most of it sold. How about selling like homemade picture frames or some other arts and crafts thing? Recycling cans, bottles etc. Good luck! Edit: with the new year coming, why not make a calender? Have each girl draw a picture, or team them up so they each can have a picture in the calender.

A walk-a-thon where people can sponsor each girl; A garage/rummage/jumble sale where each family donates some old toys, clothes, goods and it's held at their hall. You could ask each mother to provide a cake, biscuits, etc, as well, stick up posters, advertise in local newspaper and send invites to their family and friends; A cook-book is a great idea. We did this for my daughter at her day care when they wanted to raise money. You ask the parents for their fave recipes and maybe have themes, ie. Christmas ideas, Easter ideas, children's recipes, etc, and then get some nice person to type it all up, add in a few pictures from the computer, then print them out with a coloured cover and sell them for $6.00 each (or more if they look fantastic!). I like the idea of the girl guides also possibly volunteering services to clean houses, or wash cars, or clean gardens - as long as someone is there supervising them. A good way of offering services to raise money and also they could use this to work towards some badges. In fact, a lot of the above could be used towards various badges. Also, you could hold a movie night at a small cinema. I've been to a few of these - usually get charged about $10.00 to $15.00 and sometimes some drinks/food is provided at a small cost, and the movie is usually a fairly new release and there are cinemas around who will organise this for you when you are fundraising - this is a great way to get some good money and pretty easy too. Most people are happy to see a newish or popular movie when it's also going towards a good cause. Raffle tickets are also very popular - and you often can get some quite good prizes if you ask nicely at some local businesses. Sausage sizzles are popular too - I often see people outside large hardware stores on the weekend, lured irresistably to a freshly cooked sausage in a fresh roll - some supermarkets, etc, will also donate the goods if they get a mention in a sign you could make, etc. Good luck !!

My nieces brownie troop just got through selling calenders and we are going to make up our own cookbooks and sell them to make some extra money also.

Why not volunteer to clean up the attics of your relatives, friends and neighbors for a nominal fee and offer to take away the junk. Then you hae a garage sale, that way you earn money for cleaing the attic and you also profit from the garage sale.

50/50 raffles. Of the money made 50% goes to the winner of the raffle 50% of the money goes to the girl scouts. bake sales (I made $3000 to pay for a trip to disneyland & Canada making banana bread in high school) raking leaves, grocery shopping, lawn mowing for the elderly car washes are awesome. my son's school did a math contest. Where the kids got sponsorship, for each question they got right. People pledged like a nickel for each they got right. It was a very successful event. Silent Auctions....even auctioning off the girl scouts to do chores for the highest bidder. (depending on age) and of course the safety of the girls would be of utmost concern. So limitations would have to be set.
