What are some good sites for my 10 year old?

My niece is the same way. One of her favorites sites is Secret Slumber Party. It's a Saturday morning TV show about a group of pre-teen girls. Set limits, not only for the amount of time you allow her to spend surfing the net, but also for what is appropriate content wise. If your ISP offers them, take advantage of the parental filters. For example, our ISP (AOL) allows me to manage my son's online experience. I set how many hours a day he can be on, what times he can log in between, even who is allowed to IM and email him. When he logs off AOL sends me a report of his online activity. If he tries to visit a site that doesn't meet the content filter, he can email me for permission to add it to his list. As he gets older I'll ease up a bit, but for now it's a great fit for us. You also need to have a conversation with your daughter about the dangers of the net. Internet predators are out there and you need to take all the steps necessary to educate your daughter about them. She needs to know to come to you if she sees something that isn't appropriate or if someone says something to her that makes her uncomfortable. Set clear ground rules, like NEVER giving out any personal information on line. Just a personal tip, for my 9 year old son we set up an online ego. He got to make up his nickname, pick a fun place to live, etc. Whatever sites he visits, he always identifies himself as that person. Not only is it an extra safe guard, it encouraged him to be creative. Good luck and happy surfing!
