How do I get better grades?

How can I get better grades?

  • NOTE: THIS IS MY MOM'S ACCOUNT I'm in 6th grade now. When I was in 1st grade....I was allways on the honor roll. From grades 1-4 it was SO easy to get the honor roll. But, on the last marking period in 4th grade, I got a C and that ruined my honor roll habit. Ever since then I have ALLWAYS gotten a C on my report card. No matter how hard I try, I can't get straight A's and B's. In fact, lasy marking periods report card, I didn't even get one A!! It's now the middle of the second marking period and I AM 100% SURE I will get 2 C's again. I don't know what to do. I can't ask my teacher for help because I'm very shy, and I'm scared of her. But, I cant stand not getting on the honor roll. NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRY, I CAN'T GET GOOD GRADES. I feel so average. And my family will be disappointed, but I will be even more disappointed. What should and could I do? I NEED TO GET BETTER GRADES! Can you help me? Have any advice? And remember, I NEED to get better grades! NEED TO! Thank you! LOL!

Well, first off, keep in mind that C is average. It is not a terrible grade. If you are stressing yourself out about it, it is going to make it harder to concentrate and learn your material. That being said, good for you for trying to get better grades. That is very commendable. Here are some suggestions: If your teacher scares you, maybe you can find another teacher to talk to. It might help to figure out why your teacher scares you. Maybe you could move classes? Find a tutor to help you out in the classes that you are struggling with. Have a tutor, or your counselor, or someone work with you on your study methods. Maybe you could change the way you study, so that you remember more of the information. How are you studying? Music or T.V. in the background? People moving around around you? Is there anything that is distracting you while you are studying?

Talk to your mom and see if she can ask your teacher to help you after school... best of luck.

Ask your parents for help...you may want to think about a tutor, also.

have self-discipline. sleep early, wake up early.have a daily to-do chart.for example:3 o'clock come home, 3-4.00 TV and 4 to 6 study. etc. and you don't have to study all the time.do your absolute best at everything, don't be late to school(teachers like responsible students) be nice to others.never leave anything to the last minute.if there is a test start studying a couple of days before.same thing goes with projects.studying a couple of days before helps you understand it better because you won't have any pressure on you and it is easier to study, when there is no pressure.use your time wisely at school. don't talk to others in class because it might be hard to concentrate for you and the others. just do these and you will be fine.it may seem like a lot but if you have a daily schedule you will be fine.trust me i know, i don't want to brag but i am an honour student and i did all these. i study but i still have time to do everything i want and i am in junior high school which needs a little more responsibility than elementary school. p.s= your bed time depends on your age.make your own bed time.i consider my age. a typical kid my age or any other typical kid should get at least 9 to 9 1/2 hours of sleep. for example: my school starts at 8 o'clock so i wake up at 6:30 so i can leave my house at 7:30 (it depends on how far your school is from your house.)so to get 9 hours of sleep i sleep at 9 or 9:30. healthy breakfast is very important too also you can treat yourself after you finish your homework and have a little recess for a minute or two. and go over the stuff that you learned that day.or go over those things during the week-end for 10 minutes tops.then when you study for the tests it will be easier to understand so you wouldn't spend so much time on the same topic. also study the ones you don't understand first.get some help once in a while. you can record all the information on a tape and listen to it if you want.you wouldn't be as tired.reading can be a little more frustrating than studying. and don't forget to read everyday.helps with the grammer :) hope this helps.good luck at school :) if you do these i know that you can do it. there are tapes at public libararies.they talk about study skills.you can check those out if you want.

When ever you question your mark you received from your teacher and you know you it should a better mark speak to you teacher. They do make mistakes. When you go to teacher/parent interviews make sure you are there to ask questions (including your parent) how the teacher grades, what they look for in giving marks (expectations), how to get extra marks, . . . Get a tutor to help you understand your subject if you are having difficulty. Do what is necessary if marks are important to you. Being shy is all right but you need to speak to someone at the school even if it is the resource teacher.

tell your mother how you feel, have her call your school. talk to the teacher and see if she can help you do better or see if you can go in after school to do more work. :]

it might have something to do with the fact that you are scared of your teacher. that says alot of things to be honest. why would you be scared? Maybe she is not a good teacher and if shes not youll just have to do the best u can. Like everyone else here is saying talk to your mom, and a school councler abt it and talk to your teacher abt it after class tell her that u would like to know how u can improve your grades she would more likely be impressed with that not many 6 graders are worried abt their grades. :) good luck hun.
