Wow. I'm 15. It's things like this that make people like me irritated. Who said people have a problem with 12 year olds? Give me an example of when someone didnt take a 12 year old seriously? Also, dont use the term "tween". It's just dumb and proves you're immature. Another thing is, a lot of kids your age think they're really mature, and ask stupid questions like this to try and prove it. Really, it just makes me laugh. You are immature. You just think you aren't. Grow up. ***I Fall Up The Stairs: Seriously? You think you're proving a point? Get over yourself. Yeah, I'm only 15 but I'm obviously a lot more mature than you. "Shut your face" - That's a good way to prove you're mature. Or do you not understand sarcasm either?

Most people's problems with 12 year olds on the internet are that they type illegibly ("i r go 2 moovees 2nite, wa 2 *** wit me?"). It's gets really annoying to read. Also, most questions asked by people under 16-18 are pretty stupid ("wy dunt he lik me????!!!? is der sumtin wrong wit me?").

I don't have any problem with 12 year olds, and imparting my own knowledge if they seek it. It's when the question sounds like it was intended to be a rude joke that I have a problem with it, as there are many on here who are seriously looking for help and ideas from others. I also don't care for answers from those who have no knowledge to impart. For example, a question I answered a few weeks ago was from a woman in the early stages of her first pregnancy who was asking what it feels like to have a baby moving inside you. One of the answerers (I don't know the person's age, but they certainly sounded immature) said that it felt like taking a dump, and then went on to admit they had never been pregnant. I don't care how old you are, if you do not have a valid answer to the question, and you have no experience to impart to the questioner, then move on. Answer a question you know the answer to.

Well, to start off most 12-year olds and others that you speak of type like you do. It's aggravating reading through sentences with wrong punctuations and no capitalization. Also, many tweens post questions that are inappropriate or take about 5 seconds to google. I remember reading a question once from an 11 or 12 year old child, and it was something like: "liek omg i relly like josh, i want to maek out wtih him so bad, how should i do that?" Granted, I understand where you are coming from, not all of the children that post on here are brain dead or immature. But a little proof reading and thought never hurt anyone.

You're not supposed to be on here if your younger than 13, it doesn't have anything to do with "asking dumb questions", it's about safety and maturity. If you have a situation where you can't tell your parents, then go to a guidance counselor rather than complete strangers. And if you want to prove your point on tweens not being brain dead or "immuture" as you say, try using correct spelling and grammar and maybe you'll be taken seriously.
I agree with you. I think this site can be really beneficial to a lot of young people who are wanting answers to their questions. The only problem I'd have with it is, there's a lot of people who don't give the right answers and give out information which isn't correct. I'd never say to someone that they shouldn't be asking a question if they're underage. If they had a valid question that needed answered, I'd answer it as best I could. There's probably a lot of questions that my 11 year old son would like to ask, but maybe doesn't like to ask me (or his dad who he hardly ever sees). I'm sure he would like to ask questions, anonymously, on a site like this. The only problem I would have with it, is that people give out wrong information. A lot of people give out information based on where they live (not realising that there's a lot of people who don't live in the US ;) ) so that would be the only thing that would concern me. If people gave accurate answers, then I'd have no problem with my son coming on here to ask questions.
Well, if you are really 12, why aren't you in school and you are supposed to be 13 to be on Y!A. However, a lot of people loose their filters when typing on the internet. They forget their manners and to show respect for others and tend to believe that children (which is what you are) shouldn't be interrupting their "time" with silly questions. I have no problem with questions, but if you can't tell your parents or it's "like super serious" why would you want strangers to tell you what to do. It would be better to talk to an adult you can trust.

Well we know you're not babies - but you're not fully grown either. I shudder to think about the way I was when I was twelve. (I'm eighteen now.) You're right though - many younger kids are a lot more mature than people assume them to be. However, the problem with younger kids asking questions on Yahoo! Answers is that the community guidelines specifically state that you must be at least thirteen to participate on Yahoo! Answers. We know you're not babies - but the rules exist for your own safety. If you're in a situation where you can't tell a parent, then talk to a teacher or a school guidance counselor.

I agree with you. Im 14 and felt exactly the same when I was 12. It's only now that parents and teachers et cetera, begin to treat you with respect and actually listen to you.

If your situation is "super serious" then you need to tell your parents. Failing that you need to tell a teacher or the police. If you don't appreciate that...then yes, you are babies.
