My dad, the only income supply for the family earnt about $85,000 last year. Can i get youth allowance, if yes, how much?, just a random estimation would do :) thanks heaps C=!!!

  • Answer:

No you father earns WAY too much - he needs to earn less than half that (35K) for you to be eligible for youth allowance - if your parents cant afford a car - thats the level of "need" required to get youth allowance. Youth allowance if mostly given to kids whose parents are both unemployed to help them go to school. Your family is middle class - the average family income is around 50K. To be eligible for university - you need to take 18 months off after high school, work 30 hours a week and earn more than 25K a year. Most kids that do that decide they like working too much to go back to uni.

You need to get a job. Allowances are typically for young kids, those who cannot earn their own money outside the home. 16? No way.
