What age did you take your child out of there car seat legally?

What is the legal age for a child to sit in the front seat of a car?

  • My child will be 6 years old in August and he wants to sit in the front seat. Would it be legal if I buckled in his carseat in the front and had him buckle up with his car seat buckles?

  • Answer:

children should be at least 12 years old before they sit in the front seat. i know he may give you a hard time about sitting in the back but dont you want your child to be in the safest possible place in case of an accident.

While I don't know if it's legal or not, it's definitely not SAFE. Riding in the back reduces "by a third his risk of death in a collision". Have him wait until he's thirteen at the least.

no. the legal age to sit in the front seat is 12 years of age (it may even say that on the sun visor in-front/above the passenger seat). it is also recommended that the child weigh atleast 90 pounds.

nerdcglv

12 years and/or 90 lbs. Anything before is too dangerous if an accident occurs.

Twin Mommy

Very few states have it by age anymore. All done by weight & hieght.
