Application form of deal or nodeal?

I'm confused is there a different application form I have to fill out for a German passport?

  • I was born in Canada but my dad is a German citizen who also lives in Canada as a landed immigrant. He was German at my time of birth. I've visited the German embassy site and read a lot about German passports and I know I am eligible for it. While looking at the different application forms you have to fill out something confused me. I saw the requirements and application forms but then as I went down there was a separate application form and set of requirments for Canadian born citizens. I don't know if I'm mistaken but I just want to know for sure if there are separate requirements and a different application form for me because I was born in Canada. This link will lead you to the application forms http://www.canada.diplo.de/contentblob/2948650/Daten/1826401/pass_infopaket_download.pdf. Also can someone who has done this please tell me if I'm right and what they needed to apply for their passport. Thanks

  • Answer:

No, there is no different application form. You have selected the correct one for a German passport application in Canada. http://www.canada.diplo.de/Vertretung/kanada/en/02/passport/__passport.html#topic18 .. I am astonished to see that our Embassies and Consulates require you to fill an application form. Whenever I want to renew my passport in Germany I just need to bring my documents to the town hall [Bürgerservice] where I am registered and they fill the application electronically.
