What work visa should I apply for?

What kind of visa should I apply for to be able to live and work in the UK (Russian passport)?

  • I am a Russian citizen and Im now in the UK on a tourist visa. But I really want to be able to live and work here (which tourist visa does not allow me to do). So next week I am going back to Russia to get all the documents sorted out. What kind of visa should I go for?? Ive been on the UK Immigration website, but it says that I can only get a working visa if a British company invites me. But I want to get a visa first and then go to England and apply for jobs. I have got a Bachelor Degree in Economics. Also I have got a boyfriend who is British. Can he help me to get a working visa?? Please, give me an advice as to what visa i should go for? Business?? Unmarried partner?? (we are not planning to get married yet)

    You can't get a visa before you have a job. You need to find a job that can't be filled by an EU citizen and an employer willing and able to sponsor you. No other type of work visas available. You can only apply for an unmarried partner visa only if you and your boyfriend have been living together for at least two years, but as he is in the UK and you are visiting him from Russia you are not residing together so you will not qualify for this visa. Go back to the UKBA website and read it again.

What is difficult about what you have read, the BRITISH company offers you a job, then you apply / get a working visa......the way you WANT to do things is [a] not going to happen [b] not allowed. Unless you are investing and starting up your own business then you can not go for a business visa. So either you do it how they ask OR you do not come back as anything other than a tourist.
