What is the fastest and easiest way to apply for Mexican-American dual citizenship?

Is there any way I could have a duel citizenship?

  • Although I'm a U.S. citizen now, when I move back to Korea will I have to denounce my U.S. status? Is there any way I could have a duel citizenship? Background information: I came to the U.S when I was seven with my family for educational purposes (for my sister and I). My sister and I have had Korean citizenship (please don't ask how because it's too complicated to explain but it is legal so yeah). I was made a citizen when I was in the eighth grade and now I'm a senior (17) who's applying for college. I plan to go to university here (MIT, Standford, Berkley, Columbia, Brown, Rice, or UT) and major in Engineering. After college I'm going to move back to Korea and work there because I'm really loyal to Korea. I don't like being considered an "Asian-American" because I'm not. I mean I appreciate what the U.S has given me but I'm Korean, you know? I've always felt odd here because at my school there are only three Koreans that I know.

  • Answer:

NO. You will have to renounce your U.S. citizenship as Korea does NOT recognize dual citizenship. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1018.html (Check "Special circurmstances" section) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Korean_nationality_law
