How to migrate from Australia to France?

Procedure to migrate to Australia as a Social worker under skill migrant category?

  • HI, I am 31. I have completed B.A in Economics in 2004 from India. I am currently working in Social Worker Organization of Bihar. I am very much interested in migrating to Australia. As far as I know, I need my qualification to be assessed by Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) but what are the criteria by which they access your qualification?. I've been reading on their website, but that didn't really help, but on immi.gov.au I found out that in order to be eligible for membership, you need to complete an AASW-approved Bachelor of Social Worker (BSW) degrees which is not possible unless I am/was a student in Australia / Australian. So, Does being a Bachelor of Arts in Economics makes me eligible to get my qualification accessed perfectly or their could be any objections? I've also completed Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application in 2007. Will this qualification help me to migrate or will provide me any other benefits? My PG-DCA consisted C, C++ which is in MODL Australia. But, the problem with this is I've been working in this field as a part time ( when I find time from social working) and the experience is just of 3 years( as part time experience). These are two ways I can see that can help me migrate to Australia immediately. If I go for Masters in Economics, I may be eligible to migrate as a Economist but that will take 2 years from present and in that time I am not sure Economist will last in MODL as they are for 40 or 50 points. I will also loose points for my work experience as a Economist ( which I won't have). So, can you guys figure out what should be a perfect way for me to migrate to australia as a skilled migrant which should not include further studying? thanks in advance! cheers Shikhar

  • Answer:

As far as migrating as a Social Worker is concerned, you need to go back to the AASW website. There is very detailed information on there regarding Indian qualifications and I can't imagine how you could have got the idea that you need an Australian degree. It looks to me like you would have very little chance of getting a positive skills assessment as a Social Worker, but check the link and see what you think. http://www.aasw.asn.au/whatwedo/india You would have no chance of getting a positive skills assessment from the ACS as a Computing Professional. Their minimum requirement is a degree from an acceptable institution with an ICT major and at least 4 years of full time professional level experience.See ACS Pre-application Skills Assessment Guidelines for Applicants on the following: http://www.acs.org.au/index.cfm?action=show&conID=skillassessment You appear not to be aware that the MODL was revoked on 8 February so MODL points are no longer available. Also, a new Skilled Occupations List (SOL) will be released in April to take effect from 1 July and it is expected to be very much shorter than the existing one. A new and more difficult points test will also apply from July though no details have yet been released. I can't see why you would need to do a Masters in Economics unless you feel that VETASSESS wouldn't accept your existing degree. If Economist is still on the SOL when you are ready to lodge a visa application (at least 1 years experience is a mandatory DIAC and VETASSESS requirement) and if you can pass the points test current at that time, that appears to be your best bet but there are really too many unknowns for it to be a perfect option.
