Have been reading answers about immigration to UK. So many British are pissed...?

I think the Australians have the right idea. If you don't have the skills we want then you don't come in.

i live in the UK and can say that the area I live in has gone from busy to overcrowded in less than a few years. it's not because we don't like immigrants-it's because we can (fairly) accept the system is flawed and there are too many now. For example, since Poland joined the EU three years ago, the number or Polish immigrants flooding the UK in search of jobs went sky high. Now, the birth rate amongst mums in the UK is 3 English babies to 9 babies born to immigrants, so not only do we have too many here but we're also becoming overcrowded with children. Thousands of children are attending school who cannot speak a word of English. The crime rate has soared. Hospital waiting lists are longer than ever, and growing. The reasons why we have so many is relatively easy. We have the NHS which offers treatment for free to everyone. We have benefits which you can claim for as long as you like. We have colleges you can attend fo free if you are out of work and claiming benefits. Its the freebies they're coming for, not the jobs. It's obvious for all to see, but because of the nanny state we appear to have developed into, nobody has the guts to stand up for themselves. For those who scream this is the wrong view to take, (such as your first answerer-please don't take this offensively and personally) in my belief It's NOT racist to control immigration and the number of them allowed into the UK. Racism is across the board ignorance about culture, religion and race. We NEED to control the immigration levels now because the services put there for US is now being stretched beyond it's limits. I have to wait a WEEK to get a doctor's appointment. I needed knee surgery. I had to SEVEN YEARS, and the damage done is now irrepairable. Why? Because the NHS is overstretched to too many people and not enough funding. We just cannot afford any more immigrants, legal or not, until the system is made much more water tight.

I think you talk rubbish - no one objects to genuine immigrants coming here and working - therein lies the problem - they come here and get handouts that WE pay for whilst our own countrymen and women are ignored or not offerd any assistance even though they have paid into the system for years. People like you go around with rose tinted glasses on and don't see the problems caused by immigrants. My area is a no go zone at night - Polish & Lituanians driving around in uninsured cars - crime rates have more than trebled - rubbish and crap all over the place because they dump it like they are at home - drugs - prostitution - benefits frauds - immigrants being given grants to buy vans and cars or given mobile phones - local councils & police have to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds a year for translators etc because they can't and won't learn English. Heck, some companies employ these people and then PAY for one of their staff to go and learn the language - they don't make them learn English before giving them a job. Total backward way of thinkng and this is down to people like you. Wake up and smell the coffee

Ive spent time in England, Germany, USA and Australia and i can tell you that whats happening (with immigration) in the UK is BY FAR worse than anywhere else.

all they do is come to the uk and mess it up spit on the floor smell stay in your own country and stink.

i iunderstand what you are saying, and for me its not the lack of jobs, its the ease with which our government will hand out council properties, my british friend was on the housing list for 5years, sharing her bedroom with her 2 children and her brother, she was even kicked out and still not given anywhere to live and she had 2 children, it was another 2years before they found her even temporary accomendation, i just dont see why so many british born, tax paying people have to wait years for places from the council, when you are hearing about these immigrants being offered B&Bs and hotel rooms to stay in, this wasnt even offered to my friend with her 2 boys under the age of 5, i myself was left homeless and given leaflets on how to live rough?! i couldnt care less who came here from where, but shouldnt the housing problem be sorted out first off??? (sry for such a long answer, but it really bugs me)

I think our prisons are full, because they are allowing in scum from other eu countries who commit crime here and get a life of luxury inside where our tax contributions pay for them to have comfortable beds, tv, playstations, games rooms, gyms, recreational rooms and education. This means that people commiting crime are now getting a lesser scentence and people already inside are being let out early to make space for new ones. A familiar sounding story is occuring in our hospitals. I cannot get my kids or myself into an nhs dentist, a service which I, as a british citizen am entitled to. School spaces are limited. If I were kicked out on the street who would get the council house first, me and my kids or the pregnant polish prostute fresh of the boat???? People in this county aren't just mad with the overcrowding, but this would never have happened if our govenment had listened to us yrs ago. Look at the size of this country compared to your, it would fit into a state. We are simply too small and its our kids who are going to suffer!

You're right. The same thing is happening in Canada. They say it's because we won't take those jobs. Thats not true, all they want is cheap labour. I think the governments are just finding ways to break our labor laws. And we can't do anything about it.

I'm not racially prejudice personally, but I think the bit your missing is geographical. America is a huge country, Britain isn't and we are paying thousands of pounds to thousands of illegal immigrants who have disappeared before deportation and we haven't got the ability to find them.... Our system is so overloaded and outdated it cant cope. However, we should welcome those that are here legally and we can all benefit from a multi cultural society.
