What is it like working in an American hospital?

What is it like being an American living and working in Germany on a Visa?

  • Answer:

    1. Don't try to go to Germany and get work on a Tourist Visa. 2. Unless a U.S. student on an official exchange program, and have permission to work a set number of hours per month, you wont be allowed work in Germany. 3. If going for work on a specific work permit / contract, the firm hiring you will still have to get you Registered with the "Arbeits Amt" as well as with the "Auslander Amt." 4. German Border Police and normal Police conduct regular controls in the street, outside shops, in train stations and if stopped you will have to show the relevant documentation with regards living and working in Germany, also you have to be able to show proof of Medical Insurance and visible means of support to pay for your time while in the country or risk immediate arrest and deportation from Germany. Ignorance of the Law will not be accepted as an excuse. Many Germans speak English but appreciate you having some basic knowledge of their language, the fact that you try to speak German is the main thing, they don't like to talk to people who make no effort with regards the language
