Is Keystone National High School considered to be a private school in California?

California resident question?

  • I am currently a California resident. I am planning to go to other state to study for 3 years and come back to California for grad school. When I come back to Cali after 3 years and go to school, will I be considered as out-of-state student or as California resident? i wonder this because it will make a huge difference in my tuition fee.

  • Answer:

Most states make provisions that allow college students from out of state to keep their home state driver's licenses, car plates, and voter registration. As long as you do not take any actions to switch state residency like changing your license or registering to vote, then you can maintain eligibility to enroll in a CA grad school as a resident. You probably won't, however, be able to obtain resident tuition in the other state (if a public college or university) without jeopardizing your CA resident status.

You would have a easier time renouncing your citizenship, then as an illegal, the State will pay for the whole thing.

There is not that much difference in grad school tuition between in-state and out of state tuition and it does depend on the school, but you have to reside in California one year prior to your application for grad school so you will not be a resident until after your first year.
