How do i change name on passport after getting married in India?

pl go to local marriage registrar's office of your home town in india with 1.wedding cards 2 wedding fotos with both of u plus priest in single frame,3 two witnesses plus I-cards plus who attended marriage, 4residence proof, 5/passports, I- cards both. all copies,,attested/notary,fill up the forms pay requisite fee ,service charge, personal presence reqd for signatures......after all these u get the certificate in india next go to passport office/indian consulate if abroad with both passports for inclusion of husband/wifes name/change in surname if u r u s citizens also u cannot proceed without marriage certificate,which is must for proof of marriage abroad U SHOULD HAVE DONE THESE BEFORE DEPARTURE now only way is to call indian consulate NY for guidence/US immigration dept./USCIS

The process is simple if Indian passport . Go to we site https://portal1.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink It is presumed that you have US Passport since you are US citizens. In that case you can remarry ( :)) at US and get it done. why do you need this change so quickly? On Lighter side-- wait for some time and ensure you need this change...:)

I assume that the certificate is issued by Indian authorities, likely at the state or local level, and registered there. You'll have to meet their requirements and then get an official copy for the US paperpushers. Of course, no action need be taken until you return to the US -- who's going to know??
