What could be the consequences of unsatisfactory pre-elementary education?

Is illegal immigration destroying opportunities for our children's education?

  • "Exclusive: Has Illegal Immigration’s Effect on Education Become the ‘Third Rail’ of Politics?" Vincent Gioia http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/id.2736/pub_detail.asp Traditionally, Social Security has been the “third rail” of politics but we now have another third rail – illegal immigration and education. Politicians step all over themselves asking for more and more money to be spent on education; ignoring the fact that money alone does not make for a good public education. Another thing we are not allowed to mention in a discussion about public education quality and costs is the impact of illegal immigration; otherwise we are labeled “racists.” The United States has the world's most generous illegal immigration agenda. For immigrants, California is their primary destination. And keeping our border with Mexico open allows an unlimited number of illegal aliens access to education and medical care. Partially because of illegal immigration, California has an astronomical $42-44 billion deficit. As a consequence, many school districts are laying off teachers and other school personnel. Stated another way, the failure to pay attention to the obvious affect illegal immigration has on California's social services means that some of your children's teachers in California will soon be unemployed. It must be remembered that, for the most part, illegal households using programs like free school lunch or Medicaid are receiving these benefits on behalf of U.S.-born children, who under current law are awarded citizenship at birth. Of course, the costs of providing services to these children are very real for taxpayers and result from illegals having been allowed to enter and stay in the country. And having the federal government feed or provide medical care to their children is an enormous benefit to illegal aliens. Thus, in considering the consequences for public coffers, counting the costs of these programs is necessary; otherwise one would gain a very false sense of illegal immigration's present costs. The really sad thing is that despite California’s huge outlay for education it has one of the worse public education systems and results in the country. Facts are terrible things to those that prefer to think in political correct terms. English as a second language, massive class sizes and increased costs of educating illegal aliens surely have had a huge impact on these rankings. For those of you who just love the "these people just looking for a job" justification to ignore illegal immigration, this shows the devastating impact they are having on the educational system. Is it worth destroying a whole generation of our citizen children’s educational years simply to have lower cost produce or cheap gardeners?

  • Answer:

They need to change the law so that children born to parents who are here illegally are not citizens. Or if people have a problem with that, get the word out that the illegal parents will be deported, but their children will be taken from them and kept here as citizens of this country. Either way it should curb the insane number of "anchor babies" and parents who then feel entitled to live here illegally. These are the same parents who don't take any interest in their children's education because they don't understand what's going on and/or don't want anyone to know they are illegal and possibly deport them. With lack of educational support at home, plus the fact that they typically live in poorer areas, they have a much higher rate of gang membership as they hit their pre-teen years. Jackey: The difference is that Irish and other European immigrants wanted to join and blend in with the American culture. A large majority of the Hispanic immigrants are trying to recreate their home country in America with no interest in blending in with the culture..

Jackey, they are not all citizens who were born here. These are children who are also as illegal as their parents. Their parents drag them here illegally, putting their life in danger and then sponge of our educational system. As a teacher, I see it daily and it is not as bad in my district as in some surrounding districts. We pay for two meals a day. Classes for our children are being cut to provide for illegals, especially the non-English speaking ones. Teachers are losing jobs because of the cost of these illegals. Just because they are anchor babies is no excuse when the parents are criminals. They should be stripped of citizenship. We are also hurting in our schools because of the low test scores by illegal aliens. The lower the standardized test scores, the less money the school actually receives. Ask any teacher and they will tell you the same.

Here's a fact for you. The immigrants that go to public schools in this country are NATURAL BORN CITIZENS. they are the children or grand children of illegals. So this raises the question. If you deport the adults what do you do with the children who DO have a right to be here. Making a simpler path to citizenship is the only answer. Making the illegals legal is the only way to get them to pay taxes to hold up the schools they send their kids to. It also benefits them by making so they can't be exploited by companies willing to hire them for less than minimum wage. We did this same thing for the Irish and other European immigrants, who came in on boats by the millions. You are probably the offspring of some of these immigrants. Why not Mexicans? What makes them different.

The rest of the country has to pass the immigration laws Arizona just passed. Police will be able to arrest and charge people if they're suspected of being in the country illegally.

NO, they are adding diversity, culture and creating jobs for translators. Again! we see another website of yours that uses an extremist group (CIS) as a source. That is not credible sources, especially when backed by racist groups. http://www.splcenter.org/publications/the-nativist-lobby-three-faces-of-intolerance/cis-the-independent-think-tank CIS: The "Independent" Think Tank CIS was started in 1985 by a Michigan ophthalmologist named John Tanton — a man known for his racist statements about Latinos, his decades-long flirtation with white nationalists and Holocaust deniers, and his publication of ugly racist materials. CIS' creation was part of a carefully thought-out strategy aimed at creating a set of complementary institutions to cultivate the nativist cause — groups including the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and NumbersUSA. As is shown in Tanton's correspondence, lodged in the Bentley Historical Library at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Tanton came up with the idea in the early 1980s for "a small think tank" that would "wage the war of ideas."
