How do we fight poverty in america? would you change america budget on poverty?

Stop sending our money to foreign countries to help them with everything. There are so many here who need the help.

Good question. We really need to take care of our own before the rest of the world. We seem to be doing it backwards

We are fighting poverty in the best way possible. We are giving aide to those who need it, and making the economy strong to create new jobs. Vote Republican!

the first thing i would do is stop all federal and state and local funding to illegal aliens and then deport them. Then redirect that money, about $80 Billion Dollars to the poor and homeless people of America. America has elderly without proper medication and treatment, poor children and homeless vets and if there's any left over i would donate it to the humane society!

We spend too much on the poverty, or alleged poverty, of illegal immigrants ... who were never invited to come here, and have no rights under law, and too little on our own citizens ... This country needs to do considerably more for its elderly, the vets, education, housing and healthcare ... for its own citizens!! Well, we can start by spending less on defense! We spend MORE than half of our budget on the war machine, and where has it gotten us? The most richest in our society, consist of less than .05%.....They affect policy and pay for elections, do you think they care for the poor? Some do and help, but most don't.... Sashie, lets see, the US population consists of 239.9 million whites, 44.2 million hispanics (illegals included), 38.3 million blacks and the rest are two or more races, 4.7 million.....Out of the 44 million hispanics, 12 million are illegals....Even if every single one was on public assistance, it wouldn't make a big difference! Of course, NOT all, if not most illegals are NOT on welfare....Stop perpetuating the myth that illegals are sucking up the system, because they are not! LOOK at the numbers, they speak for themselves....So how do you figure?

Short answer, education. Long answer, there will always be poverty. There is a limited amount of money and resources in the world. As long as there are people who have more than average, there will be people with less. It's one of the downsides of capitalism. The only alternative is the entire world being under one communist government, and that is never going to happen, and never should happen.

we're not doing a very good job to fight poverty. for example, there was a measure to increase the minimum wage a few months back, but it got shut down, sadly.

We spend to spend more money. It's up to the poor to get organized like the minorities did in the 1960s. That's the only way you get congress to do anything. Congressmen meed to feel the heat come election time.
