What is a Global Passport?

Damaged but valid Passport lost by Passport ofc while submitted for re-issue. New passport issued. What to do?

  • I submitted my damaged but valid Indian passport to the authority for a re-issuance. While a new passport has been issued, they seem to have misplaced the old one. I am told that it does not matter (only 1 expired thailand visa on it), but I am worried that it can be misused, as its still valid. 1. What should I do? I live in one town and passport has been issued by another city's office. 2. Will an FIR affect my current passport's status?

  • Answer:

    (1) The concerned authorities are supposed to make an endorsement in re-isued (newly issued) passport that the new passport is in lieu of your old passport no......Obtain such an endorsement in your new passport. This is a sufficient proof that old passport is no more in your possession and in case of any misuse, you are safe. (2) If they are reluctant to give such an endorsement, write to the concerned office narrating the fact and get the acknowledgement in the 2nd copy with their seal/signature and retain it.
