What will happen if I do not complete police verification of passport?

I have applied for the passport on november 2010, got the passport on december 2010, under normal sceme not tatkaal, without any police verification. (I am a minor and submitted my parents documents while applying for the passport). I have also been to a foriegn country recently, now returned to India. Yesterday local DIB from police station called me up and told me that I have to now complete the police verification process. I have to now submit the documents to him. Please help me. Should I need police verification? What will happen if I do not complete the police verification now? Will my passport be seized from me, if I do not go for police verification?
Answer:

Normally you get your passport after the police verification in the normal scheme. In your case, you being a minor they might have given you the passport without the verification. Go with all your documents to the police station. There is no harm in doing so. If you don't go to the police station then there is a chance of your passport being impounded later.
