Canadian Experience Class for a career in Law Enforcement?

• Hello, I was planning to attend college in Canada, and after getting my undergraduate degree, I want to join a police academy and eventually a police department. It seems that the Canadian Experience Class can allow me to gain permanent residence (which I need in order to apply for a job within the police service) after 4 years of college, but I need work experience first. My question is, since Police Officers are under the Skill type 0, Level A/B category, can I apply to be a Officer to get the work experience needed for the Canadian Experience Class permanent residency, or is it required that I spend a year doing other work until I get resident status in order to apply to be an officer?   or is it required that I spend a year doing other work until I get resident status in order to apply to be an officer? you will most likely need to do other work for the year before you apply (remember this will be on a work permit) and you must continue doing this other work on a work permit until your PR application has been approved. Right now there is NO time line for this category because it is so new, but I would not be surprised if it takes a year or more. The police ONLY accept permanent residents and citizens. You can work as a security guard - is that considered management? The police will accept someone who has been a security guard. After you become a PR you may want to go back to school and do a police foundations course. You will have a MUCH better chance of being accepted by the police if you have done a foundations course
