What is your opinion of Illegal Mexicans Celebrate Mexican Flag Day In Santa Ana?
-
About 7,000 people attended a Mexican Flag Day ceremony in downtown Santa Ana on Sunday afternoon, aimed at honoring the Mexican and American flags and educating many in the audience about their Mexican roots. The eighth annual event – which featured flag presentations, live entertainment, a brief history lesson and more – ran from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Plaza Santa Ana, an outdoor space at the corner of Fourth and French streets. (Click here or on the photo above to see pictures from the event.) The gathering was sponsored by Los 32 Por Mexico en Orange County – a group dedicated to preserving Mexican culture and traditions – and was supported by members of ADELSA (Asociacion de Empresarios Latinos de Santa Ana) – a group of Latino-owned businesses in Santa Ana. Día de la Bandera (Flag Day) is observed in Mexico on Feb. 24. Mike Gonzalez, a business owner and president of Los 32 por Mexico, said his group usually holds its event on the nearest Sunday to the holiday. Sunday’s celebration started off with a salute to the flag of the United States. “We wanted this to be a tribute to this great nation, which has taken us in and given us so much,” Gonzalez said. It continued with a rendition of the Mexican national anthem, a lesson on the Mexican flag and its symbolism, and a procession of young women wearing traditional outfits from each of Mexico’s 32 states. The day also included entertainment by ballet folklorico groups, solo artists and musical groups. The goal, Gonzalez said, was to educate Mexican immigrants and their children about their heritage. “We want them to be proud to be Mexican,” he said in Spanish. “We want parents to keep that umbilical cord to Mexico intact so that their children can grow up strong and knowledgeable about their rich culture.” http://oclatinolink.ocregister.com/2012/02/20/mexican-flag-day-event-held-in-santa-ana/ why do illegals keep boasting how great Mexico is ?Is there an American flag day in Mexico ?

This is not mexico and should not be celebrated. We have a Flag Day for Americans and if these people truly want to be AMERICANS then they should be holding no allegiance to mexico and I could care less what these racist celebrate!!! This is something that if they want to learn it, GO HOME!!!

Mexicans who are here legally and celebrate their heritage are free to do so, even if they are not Americans. American Citizens do not welcome Illegals doing the equivalent of cramming their culture down our throats. They aren't even guests in the US. The Obama Administration has selected Hispanics as their favorite people. Therefore, Illegals are above US laws, short of murder. All government forms and public services including banks will treat Illegals and their Legal counterparts as VIPs. America is merely an ATM to Mexico. They send their citizens here to work and send US Dollar$ home. No one else but the Mexican government “prints and hands out brochures showing individuals how they can avoid our Border Patrol, and get into our country.

We celebrate St Patrick's Day all over the US - Americans will use any excuse to party. US 2010 Census demographics for the city of Santa Ana: 78.2% Hispanic 10.5% Asian 9.2% white, non-Hispanic 82.6% of the population speaks other than English at home 49.4% of the population is foreign born 51.4% over 25 have completed High School 12,000 population per square mile (LA has 8,000) 4.3 persons per household (CA = 2.89, US = 2.59) The 2010 Census counted all people living in the US, regardless of status. Congressional (and Legislative) representation is apportioned by population. That means that an area which has a high illegal population (even though non-voting) will have more representation, to the detriment of an area with little illegal percentages. Hear that, Iowa?

I think it's wonderful that Mexicans are celebrating their heritage in a community that is obviously racist towards them. If I had a Mexican flag I'd wave it in front of a right-wingers face too!

Why would you assume they are illegals? No where in the article does it say anything about illegals and one of the people mentioned was a business owner. All I see is Mexican Americans celebrating their culture.

I've got no problem with it. Btw, I couldn't find the sentence where the people were described as illegal. Am I missing something? (I'm not).
