Patten Article Font Size An overwhelming 80 percent of U.S. voters oppose proposals for government-backed health-care plans for illegal immigrants, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll released Friday. That compares to only 11 percent who think providing illegal workers with a government health-care plan is a good idea. The strong opposition to health-care coverage for illegals, based on a national poll of 1,000 likely voters, comes amidst ongoing negotiations over the proposed health-care reform package now working its way through Congress. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, over 10 million illegal immigrants in the United States lack health insurance. That's about 22 percent of the 46 million people in America who are without insurance. American voters continue to strongly favor the idea that all Americans should have quality health-care coverage, however. Sixty-five percent say that every American should have access to quality health care. Only 22 percent disagree. Support for providing health-care coverage for illegals is sharply divided along party lines. According to Rasmussen, nine out of 10 likely voters who describe themselves as conservative are against granting health-care coverage to illegals. I'm opposed to public health care for illegals. In fact I am opposed to any type of government aid to illegals.

Illegal is Illegal. The only reason why we would even have free health insurance is due to the Latent disease explosions. Apparently, 66 percent of all TB cases coming to America originate in Mexico. Many more diseases are spreading and the cost to cure is putting a burden on the government and taxpayers. I don't think the government had any idea "open borders" would be so costly. Each illegal with MDR-TB coughs and infects 10 to 30 people, who will not show symptoms immediately and cost $2000 to cure over 24 months, so add that up per person; $24k to cure a diseas that we had not seen in AGES!!! Cheaper to send them home only now is proven to be fact,

Any illegal that is here shouldn't get ANY help what so ever.I know this is harsh but we must stop all forms of welfare to illegals.They aren't suppose to be here in the first place.If employers want them here then they should take full responsibility for them and that includes anything they might need.If a farmers tractor broke down he would have it fixed so it shouldn't be any difference with his illegals workers.Maybe after one expensive visit to the hospital or Dr he will think twice before hiring them.Illegals shouldn't get one cent of welfare and that goes for their anchor babies too.

Illegals shouldn't get health care at all.Let them go back to their own country for it.We would have to do the same if we where in their country illegally.

I agree, they should get nothing. If you take away all the freebies and benefits of their anchor babies, they'll leave.

I cannot believe that Washington is making a "health care package" for illegals. Give me a break. There are American citizens who do not have health coverage and we have been trying to get some kind of national health insurance for Americans since the Clintons were in the White House to no avail. And illegals are going to get one, which they are trying to sneak into the health care reform for citizens? This is wrong. I do not think that illegals should be denied care in an emergency room. If someone, no matter where they come from, shows up in the emergency room really sick or with a bullet wound, whatever, they should be treated. But if this health care package for illegals means that they are getting health insurance so that they can go to the doctor for physicals, it shouldn't be. They are not supposed to be here in the first place, let alone working and getting benefits.
