How to apply for a fiancee visa in Germany?

US Permanent Resident wants to marry a Turkish medical student in Germany?

• Hi guys... Ok, here is my situation. I am a Canadian with a US Greencard for 2.5 years. I met my fiancee, a medical student in Germany, and we want to get married. We are both highly educated, and currently, I am doing my Ph.D in Chicago (I worked on Wall Street before this). She has to study for her USMLE USA medical license ... it will take about 1 year to complete... I'd like her to be with me while she studies... I have enough resources to support her... So, the questions: 1) Should we get married in the US or in Canada or in Germany ? 2) What is the length of time for our applicaiton to go through and for her to come and live with me ? 3) Can she stay with me in the US while we wait for her adjustment of status ??? 4) What is the best way for me to bring her here ???? Fiance visa, get married then apply ??? Thanks for your help.

  1) It doesn't matter in terms of immigration to US where you get married, as long as you get certified marriage certificate afterward. 2) After the marriage, you can file I-130 Petition for Alien Relative. Once it is approved, your spouse will be given Priority Date (PD). Since you are the green card holder sponsoring the spouse, she has to wait until the immigrant visa is available according to the quota published on Visa Bulletin. These days it takes about 4-5 years until she is eligible to file green card. 3) She can stay in US only when she has another valid visa such as H1B or F1. 4) Only US Citizen can petition for Fiance visa. Best way would be file I-130 and once you become US Citizen you can notify USCIS of your change of status from green card holder to US Citizen to expedite her case. http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/B1eng.pdf
