How long does it take to complete the immigration process to Canada?

How much longer will the immigration process take to Canada from Pakistan?

  • So we filed the immigration in early Jan 2012 and received a letter than the Canaian visa office has accepted and sent to the local visa office but all of Pakistan s files to Canada are processed in London (we got this letter in mid Feb) so how long do the London people take because I ve heard that they either sent an acknowledgment letter or ask for the medical report... So approximately how long will the whole immigration process take by the way its on job bases if that counts

    We were on skilled workers and it took more than 5 years for us but it was 2 years ago. They told us in the info session that in 2011 that they have changed their policy and they will let you know the status of your application within 12-16 months, so I guess you will be receiving letter for medical in mid of 2013. It also depends upon the state you are applying, as the number of applications for immigration to Ontario are more than the other states.

Don't pack your bags just yet............The process is much longer now, due to increased security checks for India and Pakistan, due to terrorist groups in those two countries. The Canadian Security Intelligence Agency is being MUCH more care full about who gets a visa now. It will take a couple of years, if you are approved at all. Bear in mind that the Canadian Government is about to change many of the Immigration policies, due to increased unemployment in Canada. They are also reacting to public pressure to reduce Immigration intake, during this time of economic recession here in Canada. We are struggling to maintain our social welfare systems, and our universal health care, while so many newcomers are arriving each month, looking for work. Jim B Toronto.
