How old do you have to be to enter the UK alone?

How many times is a person allowed to enter the UK in 1 year?

  • Hello Im a 27 year old Mexican who works and lives in Mexico, my boyfriend is Dutch but he is settled down in London I visited him in London in August, Oct and Dec last year, each time I stayed 2 weeks or less... My question is, how many times a year is allowed to visit the UK under a Tourist Visa? And how doable is to get denied entry if I say I'll be visiting my boyfriend now instead of my friend? Are they more hard on people who goes there to visit someone who has a "more than friends" relationship? I do not want to put in danger my situation as a tourist from Mexico, I want to do things the right way from the beginning, I have no intentions at all to stay over my visit, work, study or even get married, at least not yet, we will see if the relationship works out first. My biggest fear is to get denied entrance if I say that I'll be visiting my boyfriend so often in the past half year. Any advice will be appreciated, thank you!

Agree that the more often you leave after a short visit, the easier it'll be to get admitted again. Of course, the corollary also applies- The more reason you have to visit (a boyfriend morphs into a fiance), the less reason you might have to leave again. Two suggestions- carry something about your job with you and make sure your passport gets a departure stamp as well as an arrival one. ... Good luck!!

The basic restriction is that you cannot spend a total of more than six months in the UK in any one-year period. Having said that, since you have made several visits and left rather than over-staying, you are likely to be seen as reliable. Be prepared to tell Immigration about things like your job and in general your life in Mexico: so long as they are sure that you have no intention of over-staying they should not be worried about you visiting your BF.

I think you can stay up to 6 months without a visa as a US citizen, and then have to leave for 3 months before you can go back in for another 6 months. Not sure about Mexico's rules. Best thing to do in your situation might be to apply for a visa. Some can be grated for multiple entry. I think this site can help: https://www.visainfoservices.com/Pages/dest_org.aspx

6 months in 6 months out. Eventually you will be stopped from entering,UK border control do not play with this, so Beware. Just because you can enter does not mean you can keep doing this. I know plenty of people who have been send back after too many visits.

No limit on the times. But there is a limit no residing or appearing to reside (i.e. live) So any time you spend more time in the UK than out will be an issue. The limit being 50% of the time in a year period (180 days). But repeated visits and always leaving, will build trust and show you do not want to overstay, Which is the biggest fear. Having a reason to return to mexico will always be good (eg job or other reason) - not many people can stay for a significant period of time or afford to travel so often away from home - even in Europe, let alone mexico to UK. They will get curious on why you visit so often, but that you always leave should ensure no problem, even if you say visiting your bf "as usual".
