As a PR worker what do you do?

Study visa to go to Canada faster while Quebec Skilled Worker PR visa is still pending?

  • Hey guys, Can we go and study in QC via a student visa while our Quebec Skilled Worker PR is still pending? (because QSW process is now taking 18-24 months which is terribly long) Or will the Canadian authorities see this as 'attempts to enter Canada faster through alternate ways'? Tyvm.

  • Answer:

You have to be enrolled in a college or university as an international student and pay for the year. It's very expensive, as Canadian students are subsidised and you will not be. If you are accepted at a college, you apply for a Study visa with the acceptance letter. When you arrive in Canada, you will need to bring the money for fees and for your keep for a first year, say $25 - 30 000, each. As a student, you are very limited in where and how much you can work. If you get a study visa they will probably assume you don't want the other visa and take you off the list.

Hello, You can can apply for Permanent Resident (Skilled Worker) status and Temporary status (Study Permit) at the same time. Canadian Immigration policy recognizes the concept of dual intent. Thank you for your attention. Good luck.
