I'm a U.S. citizen marrying and Indian citizen; can I become an Indian citizen or get a green card equivalent?
-
My future husbands family owns a very successful business in India so we would live there. However because I am a US citizen it is nearly impossible to find work in India. Does it make a difference if we get married in the US or India. My future husband is also has his duel citizenship; I am not sure if that makes a difference.

A duel is when two guys shoot at each other. No Indian national on this planet has dual citizenship, because India specifically prohibits its citizen to hold another citizenship. False claim of Indian citizenship is a 5-year gig in an Indian prison, which is a horrible place to be. If you ever were to become an Indian citizen--something that is rather unlikely unless you are a person of Indian origin--you'd have to formally renounce your U.S. citizenship. At that point you would never be able to set foot on U.S. soil again, as Uncle Sam would not like it very much if you told him to shove his citizenship where the light don't shine.

the immigration laws for india aren't the same as here in the U.S. so they might have a completely different system. the best thing you could do is find the closest embassy for india in your area and ask them.. there should be one close to you. you could also look up the embassy's website and see if they have the info there. hope this helps if it were true that the U.S. wouldn't let you come back because you wanted to also have citizenship in another country then the term "dual citizenship" wouldn't exist (referring to another post). so check out the laws even though your chances are slim because typically countries that grant dual citizenships require that one of your parents came from the country you want additional citizenship from and it's not usually through marriage the way it can be here in the U.S.
