Who is a famous person from North America, Canada?

If an person from Canada comes to America to visit and ends up marrying some one from the united states?

    Yes the person from Canada can stay in the U.S. They then have to go through the immigration process to get a work visa then permanent resident card. The FAQ page of the United States Customs and Immigration Services has great answers and steps and froms that will be needed to be filed. I am from Canada came down for a vacation ended up being married. Decided the US would become home and applied for the permanent residency and after 2 years will apply for citizenship so I can get a US Passprt so I can apply to be on Survivor or Amazing Race and be able to vote. Waited 4-5 months to get a work permit. After 6 months had a permanent residence card that expires in 2 years after it was issued. Yes, if they marry a US citizen they can stay. The Canadian has to get a Resident Alien card (green card), but they may have to wait for that to be processed before they can physically live in the US. I suggest calling the US Customs and Border Protection office to get the information about getting a green card. Good Luck!

If you are currently in the US you can file for LPR by going to USCIS.gov for forms and assistance or if you need assistance in completing the forms you can go to www.emichoice.com. You cannot stay here legally if you don't apply for resident status, even if you are married to a US citizen. If the person is a resident in the US (green card holder), then you have to go back to Canada until a visa becomes available (that is the law, although some people chose to stay here until the visa becomes available, which is breaking the law and might ruin your chances if someone reports you). Well, they would have to apply for citizenship to be allowed to work in the US. This is a time consuming processes, and can take a while to occur. My US citizen friend married a Canadian, and it took about a year and a half for her to become a citizen and start working in the US. She just stayed at her job in Canada until she was legal, and then moved down.

uumm..my sis married a guy from canada..they have to get married here for him to become an american citizen. my sis had that problem because they got married in canada..don't make the same mistake!!!!!!
